In an unprecedented move, the WWE UK Championship will be defended at another promotion’s event. Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) from which WWE scouted much of the talent for the UK Tournament, will hold a match between current champion Pete Dunne and an as yet unconfirmed contender at Shug’s Hoose Party IV on the 29th July.
It’s another sign of WWE’s closening relationship with UK promotions and its more lenient approach to its latest stars’ contracts, with Tyler Bate and Dunne appearing at various events across the UK. Its success could see more championship matches held on UK soil.
WWE has announced that it is parting ways with NXT and 205 Live star Austin Aries. It’s a move that seems to have come out of nowhere, especially after Aries’ recent barnstormers with Cruiserweight Champion Neville, and will leave the already floundering division reeling.
We wish Austin Aries all the best with his future endevours.
On the 30th June, United Wrestling held its latest show, Out for Justice, at the company’s regular venue in Longton, Stoke on Trent. Being a local promotion, it falls easily into the more pantomime elements of professional wrestling, in no means meant as a bad thing, with easily definable heels and faces designed to entertain the families that make up the crowd.
